Looking for work in the Gaming/Animation industry. Currently a full-time student in COmputer Animatiion on the verge of graduating. Any info you could E-Mail me for openings as a Concept Artist(Character or Creature)or any available employment opportunities for your company would be very much appreciated! Thank you very much, hope to hear from you..
Hi Justin,
I attempted to send you an email, but it bounced, so I pasted it below:
sorry about the delay in replying to your comment.
We’re not currently looking for Concept Artists, but don’t let that put you off. If you think you have something to offer, get your portfolio together and send it into us at Vigil Games. We will always make openings for good people. If you’re also interested in animation, we use 3DSMax here, but again, if you use a different package for animation, collate your best animations together and capture them into a demo reel, and save it out in any of the common video formats: .avi, .mov, etc.
Send examples of your work along with your resume to the address on this page.
Good luck!
Haydn
Hi Haydn,
Wanted to thank you for the interview on Friday and I look forward to hearing from Michael! New screens for Darksiders look sexy!
David
Hi Haydn! I just wanted to mention that Darksiders looks fantastic and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. It’s just beautiful. Anyways, I heard down the grapevine from a friend of mine, Greg Hettinger, that Vigil was looking to recruit in the near future. I may not be a senior level artist but hopefully I can contribute to the team as a junior/entry level artist. I’m mainly looking for a lighting or animation position. I was wondering if you have any dedicated lighting positions or if that falls under Environment art. Anyways, I hope to talk to you soon. I’ll be sending my resume, cover letter and some samples soon. Thanks for your time. And again, great work on Darksiders!
Hey Anthony,
yes we do have specific roles for lighting on Darksiders, which is a sub-set of environment art. Lighting plays such a pivotal role in env art, it can transform an average looking area into awesomeness
We’re always on the look out for talented, enthusiastic people so please send your work along to us.
Thanks for the reply!
That’s great to hear that there’s a role for us dedicated lighters
. I’ve sent my stuff along to the address you mentioned in the twitter…tweet? (I’m not sure what they’re called haha). I may have some more recent work coming soon so I hope it’s alright to update my application as more of my side projects get finished. Also, is it alright if I stay in touch? I’m quite excited about the prospect of working in the game industry so I would love to have a possible contact within Vigil.
Thanks Hadyn!
Hello Haydn, I’m 19 and just started my freshman year with a focus on Illustration at Columbus College of Art and Design. My dream job is to be a concept artist (more specifically character concepts). I have a little experience doing concept work for an indie company currently titled Dimension XIII, working on an unreleased iTouch side scroller. Sadly we can not move any farther in development until we find an animator, but the experience thus far has been quite enjoyable and I’ve learned alot about working with artists of other types. I was just wondering if you could answer a few questions.
1.What do you think of my work?
2.How can I improve my portfolio to obtain a job as a concept artist?
3.What are my chances are of obtaining a job at Vigil?
4.What other things should I do to prepare myself?
Here’s is my portfolio which has most of my recent stuff, and my deviantArt account which has almost everything I’ve done in the past year or two.

When I decided I should start looking around for opportunities early, Vigil was the first company that came to my mind. I’m a huge fan of Joe, and from the looks of Darksiders I’m probably gonna be a huge fan of all you guys after it’s out.
I know Gray Ginther is the lead character designer so if this is something that should be sent to him I will do so. Likewise if Joe is the one I need to contact I would have no problem doing that either, although he seems like kind of a recluse when it comes to personal information and means of contact.:p
The main reason for this E-mail is just to build up contacts with game developers I respect in hopes of joining their ranks once I graduate. Thanks for your time.
Hoping for a future job, Wes Talbott ([Harbinger] on the Darksiders community forum)
